Helps to reinforce the trombone parts in a band (bass line) and is different to the regular guitar. It only has four strings, which are played one at a time, not strummed altogether in a ‘chord’.
Things to consider
Requires a strong sense of rhythm, fine motor skills and gross motor skills
Suits students who enjoy repetition and patterns
Primary school students begin on a ¾ size instrument
Small practise amplifier stays at home, only the guitar and leads are brought to school
Most bands limit the number of bass guitar players for logistical reasons – it may be best to contact your band director or TSA office before enroling on bass guitar.
