About French Horn
Less common than the trumpet and not available at all TSA schools. The French horn often plays the harmony (back up part) along with the saxophones.
Things to consider
- Requires excellent aural skills and independent personality. Would suit students who are good singers either solo or in a choir
- May require individual tuition and is not available to learn at all TSA schools (check with your band director or TSA office before enroling)
- May be expensive to buy a new instrument – contact the TSA office about more affordable options
- Having a French Horn in the group adds a ‘warmth’ to the sound that is greatly appreciated in any school band
